With Emply People’s integration to Microsoft Entra ID, users from your Entra ID groups will be synchronized to Emply People.
Be aware of the following before you activate and set up the integration:

You only use cloud-Entra ID

In case you are using a hybrid setup, please note that the integration only works as one-way and that data cannot be sent to your Entra ID

The user who activates the integration must have Global Administrator role in your Microsoft Entra ID
Activate the integration

From the main menu, go to +, click on the Microsoft Entra ID integration.

In the Pop-up, click .
This will open a Microsoft pop-up window.

Sign in with your Microsoft account.
Important
Make sure you log in as a Global Administrator.

Once you have logged in, click for the permissions to grant Emply People access.
When the system has finished loading, you will be taken back to the integration setup.

Make the relevant selections for you Microsoft Entra ID integration and click .

Synchronize calendars: Enabling this will synchronize the Outlook calendar with Emply People, and give you the opportunity to add meetings rooms. The option will only appear when enabling this functionality.

Always share dates and titles with team members: Enabling this will turn on the option on for all calendars currently in Emply People, and have it on as standard for new calendars.

Set up the integration

Add your Microsoft Entra ID groups by clicking under Groups.

Fill in the information about the group.

Default role: Role to be given to all users existing in this group when they are created in Emply People. This option also update current users if ‘Synchronize roles’ is enabled.

Default department: Department that the user should have when they are created in Emply People.

Language: Language for the user.
-
Time zone: Time zone for the user.

Currency: Currency for the user.
Note
If multiple groups are created with different roles and departments, and a user exists in more than one group, this user will be given all departments and roles defined on the groups.

Activate .
It is a precondition that the roles are present in the groups add in the integration.

Finish by clicking .
The one-way syncronization from Microsoft Entra ID to Emply People, and users will automatically be created in Emply People from the added groups in Microsoft Entra ID.

Activate if you want the user's calendars to syncronized from Outlook to Emply People
-
Activate if you prefered.
Note
This setting will apply to all calendars in Emply People.

Click .

Go to the user settings in Emply People by clicking your name in the top right-hand corner.

Go to and click .
This will open a Microsoft login dialogue.

Log into Microsoft with your Global Administrator account.

Read and accept the permissions requested by checking Consent on behalf of your organisation and clicking .

Back in the Emply People user interface, check the calendars you want to synchronize and click .

When the system has completed the synchronization, you can enable two options:

Share dates and titles med your team members. This must be activated by the individual user, if not globally activated step 6. If globally activated, the individual user can disable it here.
If the calendar is viewed by a member of a different team, the calendar will not show titles, but merely read Busy.

Synchronize events with this calendar

To add meeting rooms, go to +, and click .
Important
Make sure the meeting rooms are created with the type User in Microsoft Entra ID, and not the type Resource.

Activate the two-way integrations with Microsoft Entra ID, and one or more of the three options:

Create: Will create user from Emply People in Microsoft Entra ID.

Update: Will update users in Microsoft Entra ID, when there are changes in Emply People.

Delete: Will delete users in Microsoft Entra ID, when they are deleted in Emply People

If you have enabled Create and/or Update, you will be prompted to map the fields in Microsoft Entra ID and Emply People .
Note
None of the fields are mandatory, but they must be mapped to be working.
Elements that are not mapped will be updated with the value "null".
15 extension attributes can be mapped. These attributes do not send data directly to Microsoft Entra ID, but allow you to create your own code to add these attributes to a specific property in Microsoft Entra ID.

Activate Synchronize profile pictures (only is Create and/or Update is activated.
Note
It is only possible to sync the profile picture from Emply People to Microsoft Entra ID.
When a user is synchronized with an employee, the default update of the existing user from Microsoft Entri ID to Emply People will include only:

First name

Last name
-
Job title
-
Mobile phone
If you want additional data updated, you will need to enable Update in the integration settings, and ensure that the information is mapped.
