Introduction to job architecture for pay transparency

A job architecture is a structure that organizes jobs across your company according to the value they create. It establishes a clear and consistent framework for roles, responsibilities and levels across the organization.

Before you start building the job architecture in Emply People, we recommend that you map it out, so you you see the full picture and potential conflicts before you start building. See Prepare your company's job architecture

Note

A job architecture contains HR-sensitive and salary-related information. Access is restricted to administrators and requires the relevant Human Resource and Pay Transparency feature enabled in Emply People.

You can build your job architecture in two ways:

  1. Using our Excel template, you can define your job families, job levels and job roles before the new functionality is released. You'll be able to import the file directly into Emply People, preparing you for pay transparency.

You will be able to import your job architecture from the template into Emply People. Please note that you will only be able to import the template once. See here for instructions on how to Build job architecture using the Excel template.

    Important

If you're already using Job Profiles in Emply People, you're one step ahead, and you should not use the Excel template. You'll simply need to create your job families and job levels, then connect your existing job profiles to the appropriate family and level.

  2. Build your company's job architecture in Emply People. See here how to Build job architecture in Emply People

After importing or creating the job architecture, the final step is to map your employees to the relevant job roles. This ensures your organization is ready to use the new functionality.
