In this article, you can learn how to create a periodic path and how to put it to good use.
With the Periodic path feature you can create a period of time during which an employee needs to earn X amount of points and you can create an overview of this progress per employee. This can be considered as continuing education.
For example, law firms use this feature since attorneys need to earn 58 points in a period of 3 years in order to keep their license to practise law in Denmark.
Periodic path
1. Go to "Settings" in the main menu
2. Go to Learning
3. Go to the Periodic Path tab
4. Click on "+ New path"
5. Fill out all mandatory information
Title: Choose a title for the periodic path
Period: Choose how many weeks, months or years this path is for.
In the example of law firms in Denmark, the period will be 3 years.
Points necessary: Choose how many points should be gained in the period selected above.
NOTE: As you can see at the top of the pop up, you will be able to create the path in different languages, if your environment supports multiple.
6. Next, go to the main menu - Learning, to add this periodic path to a new course
7. Click on + New course
8. Choose the type of course
NOTE: The periodic path can be applied to all types of courses.
9. Select the correct period path in the field below
10. When employees complete courses with a periodic path, this will be the result:
You can choose to see the periodic path in this overview by clicking on the Period path button and by selecting one in the dropdown list right below (see number 1 on the screenshot above).
Below, you will see the statistics appear for the employees that have an education start date set (see number 2 on the screenshot above). To add an eduction start, simply click on the link No education start and set a date in the pop-up. This date is the very first day points should be achieved from within this periodic path and future periods are automatically renewed based on this date.
To make sure the table only shows the employees with an education start date, you can disable the option in the top left corner of the table (see the number "3" on the screenshot above).
