Work with clock in as an employee

Clock in is currently only available in the German market.

Click your way through the clock in process

Below you can click your way through the process and get instructions before you use the procedure in Emply. Click Storylane_Fullscreen_Icon.png in the top right corner to see the click-demo in full-screen. Hit esc to exit full screen.

Start and end your work day

Prerequite: To use Clock in, the feature must be enabled by your administrator for the payment group that you belong to.

  1. Click Open in the Time registration tile on the dashboard or on the briefcase icon Emply_briefcase_icon.png from anywhere in Emply.

  2. Click Clock in to start you work day.

    This will start the timer. You can always see how long ago your work day started, indicated by the orange timer.

  3. When it is time to take your break, click Break.

    This will pause the work timer, and start the blue Break timer. A work block will be created from the time you clocked in to the time you started your break.

  4. When your break is over, click End break.

    Important

    If you end your break less than one minute after it has been initiated, no time block will be created.

    This will stop the break timer and add a break block to the time registration. The orange work timer will resume counting work time.

  5. When your work day ends, click Clock out.

    This will stop the work hours timer and create a work block from the time your break ended until you clocked out.

    Note

    If the your work time exceeds the time of Today's hours, the extra time will be registered as Overtime. Your accumulated overtime will be displayed on the purple button in the top right-hand corner of the Time registration widget. If approval of overtime is required (see Enable Clock in), the accumulated overtime will be calculated after approval of the time registration.

Note

If your time registrations and/or overtime requires approval, notifications will automatically be send to the relevant approver(s). You can always see the approval status of each time block on the relevant date in the Time registration widget.

Manually add or edit your registered time

If you forgot to clock in, stop your break or for other reasons need to change the time registered, you can manually add a time block or edit the exisiting ones.

Edit existing time block

  1. Open the Time registration widget from the tile on the dashboard og the briefcase icon from anywhere in Emply.

  2. Select the relevant date.

  3. Click an exisiting time block, if you want to edit it.

  4. Edit the relevant time block information and click Save.

    Important

    Overtime blocks will not be created automatically, if you edit the end time manually to extend into overtime. You will need to manually create an additional time block, and select the Timeblock type Overtime that includes a start and end time adding up to your work hours beyond Today's hours.

    Example 1. Example

    Your regular hours are 7 and a half hours, but you have worked 8 hours and 45 minutes with a 30 minute break.

    Edit and/or the following add time blocks

    • Work 8:00 - 12:00

    • Break: 12:00 - 12:30

    • Work: 12:30 - 16:00

    • Overtime: 16:00 - 17:15


    Note

    You can also remove the time block by clicking Delete, and create a new one as explained below.

Add time block manually

  1. Click + Add registration

  2. Fill in the relevant information about the time block and click Save.

    Important

Manage your overtime

Overtime can be paid out and/or spent as paid time off, depending on the settings of your payroll group.

Follow the steps below to request either of the two.

  1. Click Open in the Time registration tile on the dashboard or the briefcase icon Emply_briefcase_icon.png from anywhere in Emply.

  2. At the top in purple, you can see your accumulated overtime. Click it to start requesting pay out or paid time off.

  3. Select if you want your overtime to Payout or spent as Paid time off.

    Important

    Your employer may have selected that only one, netiher or both of the options are available.

    See how to set this on the individual payroll groups in Enable Clock in.

    1. If you select Paid time off, fill in the date and time of time off, and click Request.

    2. If you select Payout, fill in the amount of minutes you want to be paid out, and click Request.

A request will be send to your manager and/or other people who have been assigned to approve for your payroll group.

You can get an overview of the status of your requests from the Overtime option in the Time registration widget.
